Gaming: New 'Batman' video game launching soon

Fans of the recent slate of Batman video games will have another adventure to enjoy.

Warner Bros. Interactive confirmed it will launch the prequel Batman: Arkham Origins on Oct. 25 for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

The game takes place several years before the franchise' first two games: Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Players will follow a "young and unrefined" Batman as he makes the transition into the Dark Knight.

The publisher's WB Games Montreal studio will take over development duties from Rocksteady Studios, who created the first two titles. As a report from Game Informer notes, Arkham Origins creative director Eric Holmes was the lead designer on open world action titles Prototype and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.

Warner Bros. is also developing a handheld Batman title for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The 2.5-dimensional adventure is being developed by Armature Studio, which features three developers of Nintendo's Metroid Prime franchise.

The Batman franchise has proven a huge hit for Warner Bros. Interactive. The 2011 game Batman: Arkham City shipped 4.6 million copies during its first week, double that of Arkham Asylum.

According to Game Informer, Deathstroke is among the main villains appearing in Arkham Origins.

Technology: Samsung Galaxy S4 launching in U.S. this month

Samsung has announced it will launch its highly-anticipated Galaxy S4 smartphone in the U.S. this month.

The device will first be available April 24 through T-Mobile for $150 down plus monthly payments. Sprint launches the S4 on April 27 for $250, while AT&T will start shipping the device April 30 at $200. Verizon will release the smartphone this month, too, but has not disclosed a date.

The smartphone includes a 5-inch touchscreen, 13-megapixel camera and up to 64 GB of storage with a micro-SD card. The S4 will also sport several interesting features, such as Dual Camera for taking pictures or video with both cameras simultaneously and Group Play for sharing content across devices.

The launch of the S4 is crucial for Samsung as it establishes itself as a major rival to Apple and its popular iPhone.

Technology: Google Glass

This week in Tech, I learned more about Google Glass. Here's what you need to know about Google Glass:

Google finally unveiled details about its long-awaited Google Glass wearable device.

What I know: The company's support page says the glass can shoot 720p video, supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, comes with 12 GB of memory and a battery that can last through one day of constant use. The glasses allow wearers to surf the Web, check messages, snap photos and more through voice commands.

Google is starting to ship the first set of the devices to 'Explorers', people who are trying out Glass as part of Google's "ifihadglass" project. But the company has not announced a wider release date yet.
